Any coach who has written workouts for a general population has at one point or another seen confirmation of this. Sure, people are willing to do hard things in the gym. However, everyone is willing to work harder for others than they are for just themselves.
Partner workouts and team conditioning efforts prove the point.
From a human perspective, we’re all consciously or subconsciously ready, willing, and able to show up for each other. It’s a beautiful thing!
What should we do about it?
Steal the power in it! If you struggle with the individual aspects of showing up for yourself in your training, bring in the collective power of this human tendency. Tell your classmates you’ll be in class tomorrow or invite your classmates to join you at the gym.
We hate letting each other down, so why not get fit together?
