The Surprising First Step to Dramatic Behavior Change

Humans are creatures of habit. We have patterns both micro, like pre-bed routines, and macro, like self-sabotaging loving relationships. If you can acknowledge the human tendency that we have to repeat ourselves, you’re ready to receive today’s message.

The paradox of humans becoming stuck in a pattern is that being in a pattern often comes without the awareness that it’s a pattern. It’s as if humans who experience the same ineffective painful life outcomes approach each instance as if it’s a unique unrelated misfortune.

Your greatest source of pain is often very related to other misfortunes.

Therein lies the pattern. The surprising first step to overcoming ineffective (chronic) behavior is recognizing that this is not an isolated event, but instead a pattern. From this vantage point, one can address the problem for what it is rather than an acute issue.

So, the million dollar question is:

What is your pattern?

If you can’t name it, it’s likely out of view and it’s time to explore your blindspots. Happy exploring!
