Two Key Elements of an Excellent Movement Practice

I was recently brought back to the profound teachings of George Gurdjieff in a conversation with a friend. The experience I had following some of his group-based movement sequences has much of the truths that our training has:

You can’t do it and be somewhere else.

The Gurdjieff movements were sort of like marching band meets rubbing your stomach and tapping your head. It was a mental puzzle that built on itself towards complexity that forced your attention to the moment to keep up.

You had to be here and now.

That simple, but profound truth doesn’t seem like much. Buddhists would argue differently. After all, is there another place to be than here and now?
