Cold Hard Steel vs. (a Persistent) Man

It must have weighed four hundred pounds. Plenty of barbells end up weighing that much around here, but this was dense, cold, thick, steel. Weight feels different when it’s dense.

Well, the newest addition to our Venice Beach location included a very old, very stuck steel metal object in the floor. Six different individuals from various trade professions came by to put their tools to the test. Five of them failed.

By the end of this long, expensive, heartbreaking process, I was confident that we needed bigger fire power. We needed new tools, new technology to cut this hunk of metal out of here once and for all, right?

Wrong.

The sixth man came alone with a small plastic milk crate with a simple grinder. He pulled out one tool, a tool every other person tried in this sage, and proceeded to do the impossible. A day later the steel burden was out of the building and all was right with the world.

How’d he outdo the “competition?”

Patience.
