Sounds weird to say, right? Trusting yourself. Well, this relationship of trust with onself is actually at the heart of self-confidence. They say that confidence isn’t just what you say to yourself, but it’s also if you actually believe it, too.
As it turns out, believability takes effort.
Trusting yourself is much less esoteric and nebulous as it sounds. That’s right, we aren’t going to find self-trust by going to a kumbaya retreat. You’re going to trust yourself with evidence.
The fail proof way to build a powerful relationship of self-trust should start small. You’ve got to make a deal with yourself that you’ll do something. The first step must be ridiculously small, because not doing breaks trust and, frankly, if you’re still reading this far… you can’t afford that right now.
Once you are able to say you’ll do something tiny and actually do it, you can build. It could start with walking for ten minutes every Friday. You’ll be surprised at how powerful this will mean to you in two months. Let’s say, you add ten minutes of reading to your Thursday, then later a meditation every Monday. Soon, you’ll be a self-respecting beast who doesn’t negotiate with yourself. Soon, when you step to do something edgy and scary (like start a side hustle or organize a community group), you’ll believe you can do it. After all, that’s what you track record says you’ll do!
Try it.
