Whether you have a morning routine or not, surely, you can acknowledge the benefits to establishing a good habit. Automated practices afford us the ability to perform important tasks with less critical brain power. And by preventing decision fatigue – specifically, the exhaustion or misery that comes from having to decide something new everyday – we’re equipped with more energy to expend valuable time & attention elsewhere.
But when might a well-intended good habit spoil into a not so good one? When might action perceived as constructive transform to action that’s actually unconstructive?
Consider the fine line between convenience and greater perspective..
While yes, making yourself a cup of coffee the same way at the same time each morning probably streamlines your morning productivity, can you justify your habit of checking the news from the same source(s) each day to be just as useful?
If you’re an adult reading this, a reminder: you’re responsible for expanding your own perception. Not only by actively experiencing and reflecting upon a wider & richer landscape of lenses, but also by holding a greater consideration for the collective, not just individual experience.
If your global perception is the size of a snow globe, do us all a favor and smash that sucker already.
