Relinquishing Responsibility

Like any great organization, we look to the quotable guidance of the best minds across all disciplines. For that reason, we lean heavily on a quote from none other than Paris Hilton.

“If somebody ever asks you to do something, do it really bad so you never have to do it again.”

-Paris Hilton

Don’t want to pick a friend up from the airport? Show up an hour late on a bicycle. You won’t get that job again. Hate laundry? Uncap a ballpoint pen and throw that bad boy in with the whites the next time your roommate needs a hand. Do you loath running the grill? Bring those rare tomahawk steaks to the table extra well done. Viola! You’ll never be tasked with the role of grill master in that friend circle again.

Of course, I’m not asking you to follow Paris’ advice, but we do reference this quote internally at DEUCE often and we do use it for good. It’s the absurdity of it that makes it effective. It sheds ridiculous light on a behavior that we have in all of us to skirt excellence and be short sided on attention to detail.

We don’t accept not being good at something as a justifiable reason to relinquish responsibility for it. We hope you and yours will seek the same inspiration that we do from Paris.
