Restored Faith

All you have to do is immerse yourself in any media outlet these days, and you start to lose faith in humanity. Well, at least, I do. Between the crime, the government situation, the poverty, and simply the downright disregard for others, it makes it hard to keep the faith.

Every once in awhile, humanity charges forward and slaps you right upside the head. This happened to me a few weeks ago. For those of you that don’t know, we have two baby girls under three, and ‘dadbrain’ is a legit phenomenon. ‘Dadbrain’ makes all logical thoughts extinguish due to overload of the minutia required to accomplish well anything to be real honest.

To leave the house there are at least twenty small tasks that need to happen with our two kids. It’s unbelievable. Forgetting simple adult things is commonplace on the daily. Six months ago I left my computer on top of the car and drove home. As you would expect, it fell off. I figured this out about thirty minutes later and backtracked as quickly as I legally could. I found it in the middle of the road. It literally was located in the path of the tires. UNBELIEVABLE! And, it works fine. I was thanking my lucky stars, because there are no dollars for a new computer.

You will never believe what happened a month ago. I literally did the same damn thing. As I was putting both girls in the car, talking with them about Lord knows what, I totally forgot that I put my computer on top of the car. This time I lost it. I retraced my steps, then got caught in two hours of traffic to cover seven miles. I was fuming when I got home. All of this came from my ridiculous actions. I was just in time for bedtime. Exactly what papa bear needed. I am not talking about my bedtime. I am talking about the wooing to sleep of our two crazy ones. It may take two hours, or it may take five minutes.

A month passed. I deleted my computer from the find my iPhone app. And, I got a message on my Instagram. A guy found my computer, and tracked me down through google. AMAZING! I met him at the farmer’s market and got my computer back. I offered him money, and he said the smile on my face was payment enough.

My faith was restored! Humanity has hope. There are good people out there. In this City of Angels, that seemingly doesn’t give any f***s about you, there are good souls.

My computer doesn’t work, but that is not the key to this story. The key to this story is people caring about people. It’s true, no matter how it may seem. Just don’t use traffic as your barometer. Take my broken computer as an example. Humanity totally redeemed itself on this day.
