When talking about gym community events, one of my mentors said it best: “It’s like going to college. Yes, there are the classes, but how much of college is in going to class?” The juice is in going to football games, the relationships with your roommates, school clubs, and events.
The same is true at Functional Fitness on the Bluffs. The classes are why you’re here, but the richest experience comes from the total experience of the community. This includes this like potlucks, informal social nights out, fun runs, seminars, and retreats. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t go to class chances are you can kiss your bachelor’s degree in fitness goodbye. But, there’s more to being a student than having your pencil sharp in class.
For example, this weekend we have a big group headed up to a Arroyo Grande for a fitness retreat like no other. FFOTB’s trip to “The PIT” is an example of the kind of extracurricular activities that can enrich your experience with us. Keep an eye of the ‘Upcoming Events’ tab on the right side of the website for community events like these:
April 12th: FFOTB’s 1 Year Anniversary Bash @ Baby Blues BBQ (7 PM)
April 13-15th: FFOTB’s Destination Fitness Retreat @ The PIT (Saturday Class & Barbell Club CANCELED)
May (TBA): FFOTB takes on Stand Up Paddle!
June 1st: Next Challenge Prelims
Come to class and train hard, but don’t be afraid to drink out of a red cup with your classmates every now and then.
