COMING SOON: Memorial Day “Murph”

It’s a long standing tradition that we take part in a community event honoring the intention of Memorial Day, which is a day of remembrance for the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice fighting for the United States of America. All three DEUCE Gyms are invited to 110 Lincoln on last Monday in May to participate in a fitness experience called “Murph”. 

“Murph” is a hero workout posthumously named after Lt. Michaell Murphy, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions that ultimately resulted in his death in the mountains above Afghanistan. This moment was captured in the New York Times Best Selling book, Lone Survivor, written by the only Navy SEAL who survived the ordeal, Marcus Luttruel. The book was later made into a feature film by the same name. 

“Murph” is a rare hero workout that was actually done (often) by the individual whom it’s named after. Before his death, Lt. Murphy would regularly complete the workout he then called Body Armour in his weekly training routine with the belief that it would protect him in combat.
