Anyone with two eyes can see that the youth, even youth athletes, are often physically immature when it comes to coordination, stability, and posture. Especially when it comes to youth athletes, these characteristics can make jumping into the gym to start strength training inappropriate and even unsafe.
The genius athletic development coaches at DEUCE Athletics in Hermosa Beach have built a remarkable bridge for youth athletes to go from their Bambie legs to a sturdy blank slate ready for weight training in the gym. Athlete Prep is a 6-week course that serves as the prerequisite training every parent and motivated youth athlete has wanted to set up a long, limitless training career in the weightroom.
Athletes will understand the basic positions, points of stability, and functional patterns that will allow them to use the barbell safely. If you or your child hasn’t completed this course, we can’t recommend strength training. Furthermore, no athlete will meet their potential if they ignore strength training in today’s competitive climate. The choice, then, is yours.
If you know a young athlete who’s looking for his/her permission slip to strength train, this is it.
