Long on Work, Short on Compensation

The quickest way to undercut someone’s plight is to search for someone who has it worse. So, let’s not do that. Coaches in the strength and conditioning world definitely have earned a seat at the table of the most overworked and underpaid careers out there.

The early mornings, long hours, low pay, and sponge-like ability take on the problems of others with a smile on their faces makes being a coach a tricky job. Furthermore, the appearance of the job is quite sexy. The reality, however, is quite different.  The reason I’m writing this has nothing to do with me, in fact. I’m barely a coach at this point. The people who are most in the trenches here, Juan, Chris, Emily, and Lindsey, are deserving of a moment of recognition.

When you see a coach making this look easy and you’re feeling up for it, I challenge you to recognize them. They’d never ask for it, but, my God, do they deserve it.
