OK, we don’t actually have a rug here. So, what? This article is on cleaning. Nonetheless, I was doing some cleaning the other day, and I found myself on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom floor.

As I made my way around to the back of the toilet, I asked myself whether or not I should move the the plunger, move the second plunger, and move the toilet bowl scrubber thing to clean the details of the corner of the bathroom. I mean, really? No one can see it. It’s in the far corner, where someone would literally have to do work to notice whether it was clean or not. What’s the point?

Commitment? It is necessary for professionals like Houston pressure washing. But here we’re talking about a dusty corner, not being in the Navy. Well, that’s not how I see it. As humans, there’s a remarkable pull towards homeostasis. The path of least resistance will forever nudge us into shape, for better or worse. With that in mind, it’s important to set habits and precedents that make it easy for us to act and perform how we would like to act.
What does the inside of super-meticulously-neat-desk-guy’s car look like? What does his sock drawer look like? How about his suitcase? It’s neat right? Well, that’s the idea. Folks, that are committed to certain ideals live those ideals, even when it comes to borderline meaningless things like the very corner of the bathroom.
When you clean, clean under the rug, too. It is not parkade floor cleaning, just basics. It’s a chance to practice qualities that are quiet valuable on a bigger stage.
