*The Route 56 Challenge: Day 43*
If you’ve ever seen Boiler Room, you’ll know what I mean when I talk about one’s ability to “act as if.” The scene isn’t FFOTB.com friendly, so if you haven’t seen the clip I’m talking about you may want to do a quick YouTube search.
If you’d like a refresher without the vulgar language, the film depicts a stock brokerage firm where young bucks straight out of college make astronomical amounts of money. How do they do it? They pretend they can.

What’s the difference between a room full of amateurs acting like big shots, and a room full of big shots? Sometimes, not much..
The firm in the movie may not be the most ethical, but their ability to get results is undeniable. There’s a lesson in that for all of us, especially during this goal setting season. Sometimes the bridge from where you are and where you want to be is just a little bit of pretending. Want to be a regional manager? Editor in Chief? Movie star? CEO? Start acting like it.
Carry yourself like you’ve made it and sooner or later, you won’t be acting at all.
