This weekend is host to the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games at the Home Depot Center, which each year crowns the fittest man and woman on Earth. I am biased in writing about the event, as I am blessed enough to be a competitor in this years’ competition. The real purpose for my post, however, is to talk about what this weekend could mean for you as a member of FFOTB, someone who casually visits us for a class here and there, or someone who is watching from the outside.
Class will be cancelled this Saturday due to the Games and we encourage you to come out in droves to witness the action. I will even go as far to say that watching some of the competition may yield better results in your training long term than taking class, anyway!
The amount of positive energy and inspiration that will be crammed into one location will be mind blowing. And, though competitiors from the far reaches of the planet are making the trek out this way, and Carson still seems a bit far for you.. You are in luck! I am just returning from the athlete orientation, where they unvieled the first individual workout of the games and it is starting at the Santa Monica Pier!
The workout is:
For time:
210m Open Water Swim
1500m Run (Soft Sand)
50 Chest to Bar Pull Ups
100 Hand Release Push Ups
200 Squats
1500m Run (Soft Sand)
The 50 fittest men and women on the planet will be tackling this workout in your very own back yard. If you still can’t make it out, the games will be streamed in HD on the Games website and ESPN 3.
Who wants to get motivated?!
