Go Far with “Simon Says”

Listen, you’re going to get coached here. The simplest way to supercharge your movement-ability no matter where you are training, though, might come from an even less sophisticated approach. World-class coaches with eyes on is great, but it’s tough to beat a self-aware student who is constantly mimicking great movers.

Copy the best. Period.

From a rep to rep-basis, there might not be a better piece of advice than for new movers to impersonate the best movers they’ve seen. Make your movement, including mannerisms look like theirs.

Afterall, this is the iterative process by which we learn most anything anyway. Step 2 in this process is to improve the quality of folks you’re mimicking. Watch gymnasts, weightlifters, runners, rowers, and powerlifters and copy your way to excellence.

Try it.
