“Here’s the thing with me,” they’ll say. In general, I find that starting a sentence like that increases the odds that you’re about to say something that is specifically not unique to you. But, in any case, as a strength coach I hear this a ton.
The sentence ends with, “I can’t go to the gym on my own. I need some structure, some accountability.” To which, I respond:
“Me too, man.”
I’m pretty confident that if I didn’t work at DEUCE, I wouldn’t be first in line to pull over and walk in the gates. Training is hard and training consistently is nearly improbable without supporting structures that facilitate it.
That’s a very human truth.
So, if you’re older than 35 years old, you kind of just need a strength coach just like you need a hairdresser and a dentist and a doctor. In fact, “needing” a coach doesn’t make you less motivated or put together, it makes you a human.
Now, go hire a strength coach!
