Have you ever met someone who enjoyed hearing “no”? It seems like a universal thing. Humans hate the word. Divine humor, of course, places many of life’s greatest accomplishments on the other side of an onslaught of Noes.
I recently took on another challenge that stretched me beyond belief. I essentially was 12-months of hearing “No” over and over again. To say that it sucked would be a hilarious understatement.
While it didn’t make the process easy by any measure, I heard a reframe around the word “No” that has stayed with me. It went something like this:
What if I told you that you were exactly 200 Noes away from getting what you want?
Hell, you’d see things differently, wouldn’t you? You’d head out the door saying, “I’m going to go grab thirty Noes today!” You’d be a “No” collector!
This made me laugh. At times it made me cry, but ultimately it got me through and I hope it gets your through, too.
PS – how weird is seeing the plural of “No” spelled out?
