We’ve established the importance of hydration before. Drinking enough water goes beyond performance, too. The additional benefits from the condition of your skin to how you feel are helpful cherries on top. Yet, if you polled a hundred people about their water intake, few would report an “Ay, OK!”
There’s a simple habit I’d like to challenge all of you to take on so that you start your day with a chance for optimal hydration. A former strength coach of mine challenged our team to place a glass of water on the top of the toilet before bed.
He followed with, “What do you do when you wake up?”
Unequivocally, as human beings, we unanimously agreed that we go pee. Checkmate! Wake up, go pee, and “Congratulations! Here is a glass of water for you.” Furthermore, he added, it’s much easier to drink room temperature water quickly (which this water will be after sitting there all night) and though it and of itself won’t hydrate you all day. It will set the tone for key hydration.
Try it.
